Busy Week

August 11th, 2010

It’s been busy the last two weeks. So much to do when you move and get started with a new job. I am glad that God is helping me remember all the things I need to do. I am trying to work from 7:00am – 5:00pm (work out time included), so that I can get much of the preparation for my classes done beforehand and accomplish all of the little tasks I need to do to complete our move. I am definitely relying on God more and more for strength. It was definitely good to hear the message in church on Sunday about we can’t handle life on our own and the verse used for that day: “Therefore I am well content with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, with difficulties, for Christ’s sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong” – 2nd Corinthians 12:10.
.
Jess and Liam are working really hard to get adjusted to the new environment. The house isn’t unpacked yet, so it makes it difficult to do even the little things. I am continually praying that God will give Jess and Liam strength as they get used to their new home.
.
Liam has been developing in so many ways. He is trying to figure everything out! He is grabbing his stomach to look at his belly button; he is playing different games like place objects in certain locations or peak-a-boo; he is touching things with just his pointer finger; he is pushing and pulling on his gate; he is practicing standing on his own with no support; he is trying to feed the puppies his graham cracker; he is developing anxiety when someone leaves the room; and he is sleeping through the night much better (last night: 10:00pm – 9:30am and no wake ups – Praise God!)

Crazy Week

August 5th, 2010

So its been a crazy week. AC went out twice. Power went out once. House wasn’t clean when we got there. About 30 things needed repairs. Unpacking necessary things. It’s been crazy, but God is getting us through it!
.
Today Jess and Liam are headed to Peoria to pick up things from Sams and I am at work trying to get classes prepped and administrative work done.

Praise God! – A tenant for our house

July 29th, 2010

Jess and I have been fervently praying these last few weeks that God would bless us with everything being taken care of with our house before we left.  Yesterday, I got a call from our realtor about a prospective tenant who was from the Chicago area and happened to be in the state that day.  She had given the prospective tenant our phone number and I asked if I could have her phone number to set up a showing time.  Just as I had flipped open my phone and about to hit the first digit, the prospective tenant was calling me.  We set up a showing for 2 and half hours later.  She and her 10 year old daughter came by and I took them on a tour of the house.  At the end, I asked if they wanted to think about it and they said they were sure they wanted it.  So I gave them a rental application to fill out.  I took them on a tour of the club house and then to AM Management to fill out some basic information.  Then, we both went to Keystone Property Management so I could give Keystone the Rental Management Agreement and the prospective tenant could get her rental application processed.  She gave her security deposit and plans to move in on or around August 1st.  After four months of waiting to see what would happen, the entire process was taken care of by God in less than a few hours!  Praise God!

We found out today from our professional movers that they will disassemble and reassemble the crib, bed, and other items.  They are coming by tomorrow afternoon to pack up most our house into boxes and then on Saturday morning to move us to Macomb.  I plan to come back on our tenant’s moving day to make sure the house is clean, everything goes well with the lease signing, and hand over the keys.  Everything is happening very fast right now.

Quick Trip to Macomb

July 28th, 2010

Yesterday, I took a quick trip to Macomb to get the keys to the house that we are moving into and my office at the school. I also went to the Provost Office to have the I9 form completed so I can get into the system. While I was there I took a bunch of pictures so that family and friends can see what Macomb looks like.

Happy 11th Month Birthday Son!

July 27th, 2010

Liam has now officially turned 11 months old. In just a few days he is going to transition to becoming an Illinois boy. His hair is getting so long that Jess and I plan to give him his first hair cut today. Here is the video of Liam getting his first haircut.
