This article examines the effect of state legislative term limits on government debt levels. Past research has shown the influence of term limits on spending, but the effect of term limits on state debt is arguably more important in considering their desirability. We explain the relation between term limits and debt using the expected impact of changes in the composition, institutional dynamics, and behavior of state legislatures after term limits take effect. The hypothesis is that term limits will increase state government debt. Using regressions with panel corrected standard errors on data from the states between 1993 and 2008, the results empirically support the expectation that term-limited states have significantly higher debt than nonterm limited states. Term-limited states greatly increase spending while not increasing revenue levels and thus substantially increase debt. Since states with term limits have higher debt, we advise caution in adopting them.

Liam wanted me to take off my sock, so he could cut my toe nails with the clippers. He wanted to demonstrate what his mommy did last night to him. When I took my sock off, I asked him to count my toes. He pointed to each toe, counting “one, two, three, four, five”. A minute later, he counted for me to ten. Then a few minutes later, I checked a stock chart and he said “mountain” because it was in the shape of a mountain. He then proceeded to trace his finger along the smoothed average of the stock chart repeating the word “mountain”.

What is absolutely wonderful about God is that He continues to interact with us on a regular basis throughout our lives. He uses physical matter as an outward sign of His grace He is giving us (CCC #774). Here are seven ways in which God uses physical matter to signify the grace that He is giving us…
.

.

1) God uses water to signify the grace that removes our sins (Acts 22:16) (Baptism).

2) God uses oil to signify the grace to strengthen the sick (James 5:14) (Anointing of the Sick).

3) God uses the spouse to signify the grace given through marriage (Ephesians 5:21-33) (Marriage)

4) God uses the bishops (apostles) to signify the grace of ordination (Acts 20:28) (Holy Orders)

5) God uses hands and oil to signify the grace from the Holy Spirit (Acts 8:17) (Confirmation)

6) God uses bread and wine to signify the grace of receiving Jesus’ Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity (1 Corinthians 10:16) (Eucharist)

7) God uses the voice of the priest to signify the grace of forgiveness (John 20:23) (Confession)

“For Christ our Passover Lamb, has been sacrificed. Let us, therefore, celebrate the festival…” (1 Corinthians 5:7).

.

Below is a juxtaposition of the Old Testament next to the New Testament.

.

“Your lamb shall be an unblemished male” / “Christ (a male)…offered Himself without blemish to God”.

“You shall take a bunch of hyssop and dip it in the blood which is in the basin…” / “…so they put a sponge full of the sour wine upon a branch of hyssop and brought it up to His mouth”

“nor are you to break any bone of [the passover lamb]” / ”but coming to Jesus…they did not break His legs”

“Then the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel is to kill (the lamb) at twilight” / “And following Him was a large crowd of the people”…”they…crucified him…About the ninth hour (twilight) Jesus…yielded up His spirit”.

“They shall eat the flesh that same night” / ”He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him.”

“Now this day will be a memorial to you, and you shall celebrate it as a feast to the LORD” / ”do this in remembrance of Me” ”Let us, therefore, celebrate the festival”

.

Was the Passover lamb supposed to be unblemished? Yes! Was Jesus unblemished? Yes! Was the Passover lamb to have no broken bones? Yes! Did Jesus have no broken bones? Yes! Were they supposed to kill the Passover lamb at twilight? Yes! Was Jesus killed at twilight? Yes! Was the flesh of the Passover lamb supposed to be eaten? Yes! Are we supposed to eat the flesh of Jesus? Yes! Were they supposed to do that in remembrance of the Passover? Yes! Are we supposed to do this in remembrance of Jesus? Yes!

And you shall observe this event as an ordinance for you and your children forever.
