About

The purpose of this blog is to bring glory to God by sharing the wonderful things that are happening in my life.

I was born in 1984 in Virginia Beach, Virginia.  For 18 years I was raised in Virginia Beach except for a 6 month stint when I was 5 years old in New Philadelphia, Ohio – the birthplace of my parents.  While in 8th grade, I joined the debate team.  For the next 8 years I devoted myself to competing as a debater.  My significant achievements included winning the Virginia state debate championship in my senior year of high school and twice qualifying for the National Debate Tournament in college.  At Liberty University I met my wife Jessica in the summer before college at the high school debate camp sponsored by the University.  We dated for almost three years, engaged for six months, and now have been married for five wonderful years.  She is the love of my life!  After marrying Jess, I went to graduate school for political science because I knew I did not want to go to law school and studying American Politics seemed to be a better fit.  When I started at the University of Iowa for grad school, I was pleasantly surprised that research in political science could be so heavily involved in mathematics.  Graduate school rekindled my love for math, which had hibernated after I left the Math and Science Academy at my high school to attend Liberty University where I did not take a single math course.  In my last year of graduate school, my son Liam was born.  He has been such a joy in my life.  And throughout my life my faith in God has been the center of my thinking and it is so wonderful just knowing that God loves me.
