Praise God! – A tenant for our house

Thursday, July 29th, 2010

Jess and I have been fervently praying these last few weeks that God would bless us with everything being taken care of with our house before we left.  Yesterday, I got a call from our realtor about a prospective tenant who was from the Chicago area and happened to be in the state that day.  She had given the prospective tenant our phone number and I asked if I could have her phone number to set up a showing time.  Just as I had flipped open my phone and about to hit the first digit, the prospective tenant was calling me.  We set up a showing for 2 and half hours later.  She and her 10 year old daughter came by and I took them on a tour of the house.  At the end, I asked if they wanted to think about it and they said they were sure they wanted it.  So I gave them a rental application to fill out.  I took them on a tour of the club house and then to AM Management to fill out some basic information.  Then, we both went to Keystone Property Management so I could give Keystone the Rental Management Agreement and the prospective tenant could get her rental application processed.  She gave her security deposit and plans to move in on or around August 1st.  After four months of waiting to see what would happen, the entire process was taken care of by God in less than a few hours!  Praise God!

We found out today from our professional movers that they will disassemble and reassemble the crib, bed, and other items.  They are coming by tomorrow afternoon to pack up most our house into boxes and then on Saturday morning to move us to Macomb.  I plan to come back on our tenant’s moving day to make sure the house is clean, everything goes well with the lease signing, and hand over the keys.  Everything is happening very fast right now.

Quick Trip to Macomb

Wednesday, July 28th, 2010

Yesterday, I took a quick trip to Macomb to get the keys to the house that we are moving into and my office at the school. I also went to the Provost Office to have the I9 form completed so I can get into the system. While I was there I took a bunch of pictures so that family and friends can see what Macomb looks like.

Happy 11th Month Birthday Son!

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010

Liam has now officially turned 11 months old. In just a few days he is going to transition to becoming an Illinois boy. His hair is getting so long that Jess and I plan to give him his first hair cut today. Here is the video of Liam getting his first haircut.

Some Random Title

Friday, July 23rd, 2010

For the past couple of weeks, Liam is getting closer and closer to standing and walking. He has been holding on to things with only one hand and with the other hand playing with a toy. He is getting into a squat and sitting down from a stand position much more easily. And when he is sleeping, he will sleep with his knees tucked under his body.
.
For the past week and a half, Liam has been a little sick. He was playing with a boy who was also sick. Fortunately, this is only the second or third time that he has been sick in the last 11 months – praise God! Despite not feeling well, Liam tries to maintain a positive and happy demeanor as much as he can. We are so blessed to have a very healthy and very happy baby!
.
Last week, Jess took Liam to the nephrologist. His second kidney is the size of the tip of an index finger. This is good news because it means it is disappearing – praise God again!
.
Today Jess is getting Lasik or PRK done on her eyes. She is super excited about having the procedure and is looking forward to God blessing her with not having to wear glasses 24/7. God is blessing our family tremendous!
.
Praise God! Jess can now see things without her glasses! She is so excited and was reading every sign we walked or drove by!
.
Yesterday, a home inspector came in to check our place so we can get a permit to rent our house if that is what God wants us to do. It looks like our house needs three additional smoke detectors (one in each bedroom), a fire extinguisher, and one of our outlets needs to be fixed. On Monday, we are having a property manager come by to talk to us.

On Wednesday, I was going to take Professor Gary King to Iowa City from the Cedar Rapids Airport, but his plane was late and so he had to find another ride.

5th Anniversary

Thursday, July 22nd, 2010

Jess and I celebrated our 5th Anniversary on Tuesday night (me being in California on July 16 forced our celebration to wait). We went to Pizza Hut and got a Pepperoni Lovers’ pizza. It was very good! We then did some shopping because I needed to get some new clothes. Happy Anniversary Jess! I love you!
