As I remember, I will use this post to jot down memories of our vacation…

Our Spring Break Vacation
Wednesday, March 31st, 2010Back at Home
Tuesday, March 30th, 2010Last night we arrived back in Iowa City. We made very good time considering when we left. Just beyond Bloomington, Illinois, we stopped at Cracker Barrel because we don’t have one near our house. It was delicious, especially the Coca Cola Cake!
Halfway Home
Sunday, March 28th, 2010We are now in Lexington, Kentucky and halfway home. We were glad to visit family for a few weeks and have Liam spend time with them. I saw two cool sights on the way home. The first was Roaring Run Road in Virginia – an off road bypassing some of 220 that the GPS led me on. It was beautiful territory that I would love to spend more time in. There are a few fortunate residents who live on this road! The second was a rainbow that stretched over the side of a mountain on the side of the road in West Virginia. The beginning of the rainbow was just a few feet from the road! Now it’s time to rest so we can finish the rest of the journey tomorrow.
Graduate College Summer Fellowship: Another Blessing!
Friday, March 26th, 2010I received word today that I will be receiving a University of Iowa Graduate College Summer Fellowship. Praise God! This will provide me with money this summer to do more research on my dissertation! Tonight, the family will be heading over to Aunt Cheryl and Uncle Ben’s house for dinner.
Hand on Face
Wednesday, March 17th, 2010After the first night of vacation in Virginia, Liam has not been sleeping through the night. I think he misses his crib because I know I miss my bed! But it’s awesome that both families are so helpful staying up with him to help Jess and me. I am so glad for the extra hands! Last night, Liam slept from about 10 to midnight. Then he was no longer interested in sleeping without being held. Jess stayed with him until 4:45am. And after Jess nursed him, I took over. I brought him into the den so I could take advantage of the recliners. However, Liam had one requirement before he would sleep. He needed to place his left hand on my face. I tried gently to bring his hand down to his side, but he respectfully disagreed with my decision by placing his hand back on my face. After two hours, my dad took over until he was ready to eat breakfast. And for breakfast my dad fed him an oatmeal/formula/plum concoction that Jess and I started him on yesterday.
