Crunch Time!

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

I have self imposed a deadline for February 1st with my dissertation advisor to have almost my entire dissertation in rough draft form.  So it’s crunch time!  This means that over the next few nights I will be working pretty hard.   On Saturday and Sunday I plan to take the whole day to put the finishing touches on the rough draft.  The absolute last day to have my dissertation in final draft form is July 1st.  It must be turned in to the graduate college at that time.  So I am going to self impose a deadline of June 1st to have the entire dissertation completed.  After I complete the dissertation, I must schedule a defense of the dissertation.  This is where I will meet with my dissertation committee for a couple of hours answering questions about my dissertation.  At the end, hopefully, they will pass me.  The final, final draft of the dissertation is due July 21st.  The planned graduation date is July 31st.

5 Months Old!

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

Happy 5 month birthday Liam!  He decided to wake up early at 6:50am.  We watched Sportscenter together.  Then Liam took a nap from 8:30am to 9:40am in his swing, while I took a nap on the couch with the dogs.  The dogs like curling up with me when I have a sheet or blanket.  Liam ate a little at 10:10am and finished the bottle at 11:00am.  Then he ate another four ounces of warm milk at 12:00pm and fell asleep until 12:50pm.  He woke up, so I changed his diaper, and then he went right back to sleep.

.

Liam has been rolling over from his back to his front a lot these past few days.  He does it mainly at night when he wakes up and wants to be fed.  I believe this morning he is completely over his congestion!

ECSC

I dropped Liam off at the baby sitters about two hours ago.  He is starting to recognize his sitter Jessica.  Hopefully, he starts getting used to this schedule of being at a different house on Tuesday and Thursday.  He seems to be more uncomfortable with different environments.  Before his sitters said he could not have been a more content baby.  Now he is getting a little more fussy in these new situations.  Tomorrow Liam turns 5 months old!

.

It looks like I may have developed a very mild case of Metatarsalgia.  I think I have developed this from just walking around the house alot without shoes or sandals.

The post title stands for the European Coal and Steel Community.    It is one of the subjects of this morning’s lecture in the class on European Integration.

Counting

Monday, January 25th, 2010

I like to count.  Counting the number of days until Liam is 5 months old (2).  Counting the number of days until Jess and I switch roles (187).  Counting the number of calories I have eaten this morning (500).  Counting the amount of discretionary money I have left (plenty).  Counting the number of blessings God has given me (well this one is uncountable by me).  Counting keeps my mind thinking and I like to think.

.

Liam ate 6 ounces of milk this morning.  I am completing his transition from the slow nipples to the medium/fast nipples.  So I am putting all his slow nipples away.   He is still such a happy baby!   For the past few weeks he has decided that he loves to sleep on his right side with his head tilted back so his eyes are parallel with his feet.  There’s also been a new development in the last week.  He has developed a defense mechanism for his eyes and nose.  He now moves his his head from side to side to avoid any contact with these areas.  Before, he would just cry after they had been touched.  I first noticed this when I tried to wipe the crust from his left eye (he still has an immature tear duct) and when Jess tried to suction his nose.
